In our country the coast is shark free, none of our beaches has a shark problem. It has never been reported a shark attack to a surfer, something that frequently happens in Australia, South Africa, Hawaii, Florida and, in less degree, in California. The ocean's temperature is also adequate, and it varies according to the seasons along the year. In general it is necessary to use a neoprene wetsuit, but never anyone that surfed the Peruvian waves has being able to say that the cold water kept them from surfing. |
It's located in the region of Piura, far north from Lima and in the same town of Cabo Blanco. The best months to surf this beach are from May to August with the bigger south west swells that enter to Lima.
For this beach long boards are recommended, from 7' to 7'4'', to cross the tubular section, which is very fast. You can enter from the point in the longest and perfect tubular section of a life time. It's a tough wave, so just in case bring some extra boards.
