2Located in the beach town of Punta Hermosa, very close from Señoritas and approximately 44 Km south of Lima. It is a BIG WAVE that breaks almost a mile from the shore, and only when it reaches 12 feet or more in height. Even if it is a peak, most of the riders go right. The ride is quite long for a wave that big.

Pico Alto needs very big south swells to brake at its best, and this usually happens between April and November.1This wave is recognized as one of the biggest waves in the world. One of its characteristics is that the bigger the wave gets the better the waves are; and that differentiates it from other waves. To be able to drop this huge wave, you need boards from 9 to 11 foot, as well as a very good shape and a strong mind.

Aspects on favor of surfing in Peru - Why surfing in Perú is so cool!
In our country the coast is shark free, none of our beaches has a shark problem. It has never been reported a shark attack to a surfer, something that frequently happens in Australia, South Africa, Hawaii, Florida and, in less degree, in California. The ocean's temperature is also adequate, and it varies according to the seasons along the year. In general it is necessary to use a neoprene wetsuit, but never anyone that surfed the Peruvian waves has being able to say that the cold water kept them from surfing.
