In our country the coast is shark free, none of our beaches has a shark problem. It has never been reported a shark attack to a surfer, something that frequently happens in Australia, South Africa, Hawaii, Florida and, in less degree, in California. The ocean's temperature is also adequate, and it varies according to the seasons along the year. In general it is necessary to use a neoprene wetsuit, but never anyone that surfed the Peruvian waves has being able to say that the cold water kept them from surfing. |
Nonura is located on the north side of the Peruvian coast, in the region of Piura. It's a left reef-brake, long and tubular, reaching 10 foot faces. This wave is not recommended for beginners. It has good conditions all year long, especially from December to March. The current tends to be strong depending on the swell. The average temperature: between 21.7°C and 16.4°C. This beach is almost inaccessible.
