Caleta Mejía Beach
Located south of Mollendo, in the Arequipa region. Offers a beach brake on a sandy beach with peaks opening to both sides. They are tubular when it is not windy and doesn't resist big swells. The ideal size is from 3 to 6 feet faces. The best season for this beach is summer, between December and February. The recommended boards are from 6'0'' to 6'4''. Travel to Mejia takes several hours from Lima, but the trip might be worth because of the amount of almost unexplored and of great quality beaches.

In our country the coast is shark free, none of our beaches has a shark problem. It has never been reported a shark attack to a surfer, something that frequently happens in Australia, South Africa, Hawaii, Florida and, in less degree, in California. In general it is necessary to use a neoprene wetsuit, but never anyone that surfed the Peruvian waves has being able to say that the cold water kept them from surfing.
