In our country the coast is shark free, none of our beaches has a shark problem. It has never been reported a shark attack to a surfer, something that frequently happens in Australia, South Africa, Hawaii, Florida and, in less degree, in California. The ocean's temperature is also adequate, and it varies according to the seasons along the year. In general it is necessary to use a neoprene wetsuit, but never anyone that surfed the Peruvian waves has being able to say that the cold water kept them from surfing. |
Lobitos is located in Piura - Talara, approximately 1,000 km far from Lima. This wave is a long and perfect left that when is really good, can reach a trajectory up to 300 meters long. Most of these waves are tubular; the recommended boards are from 6' to 6'6'' at the most. The best time to surf here is from May to October.
