La Herradura Beach

Located in the city of Lima, La Herradura is the biggest and best wave of the city by far. It is a long, tubular and heavy left with long walls and working at its best with the winter biggest south swells. It has a very tubular section called the 3rd (la tercera) where everybody can feel the experience of a big tube ride. It's a long wave with approximately a 300mt ride going always on the side of a hill. The power of the wave and its long ride demands strong legs to the surfers.
1You can surf it from 5 to 12 foot faces, needing boards from 6'2 to 7'4.

Aspects on favor of surfing in Peru - Why surfing in Perú is so cool!
In our country the coast is shark free, none of our beaches has a shark problem. It has never been reported a shark attack to a surfer, something that frequently happens in Australia, South Africa, Hawaii, Florida and, in less degree, in California. The ocean's temperature is also adequate, and it varies according to the seasons along the year. In general it is necessary to use a neoprene wetsuit, but never anyone that surfed the Peruvian waves has being able to say that the cold water kept them from surfing.
