Playa Grande

Located at 4 hours driving distance from Lima and south f the city of Chimbote. It is a heavy left point that brakes all year with south swells. You can surf it from 5 to 10 foot faces, with good tubes. The wave brakes in front of a rocky reef and on a rocky ground. The place doesn't looks very friendly and it is usually not crowded. You will need boards from 6'2 to 7'4 to enjoy these incredible tubes. Even if the wave is very near from the Panamerican freeway, a bus would not stop to drop you in the correct place, if you don't know it, so it would be necessary to reach the place by car.

Aspects on favor of surfing in Peru - Why surfing in Perú is so cool!
In our country the coast is shark free, none of our beaches has a shark problem. It has never been reported a shark attack to a surfer, something that frequently happens in Australia, South Africa, Hawaii, Florida and, in less degree, in California. The ocean's temperature is also adequate, and it varies according to the seasons along the year. In general it is necessary to use a neoprene wetsuit, but never anyone that surfed the Peruvian waves has being able to say that the cold water kept them from surfing.
