Centinela Beach

It is located north of Lima, very close to the city of Huacho (km 149), entering from the small town of Huaura. The wave is a long, fun and nice left, with a tube section. You can ride it up to 7 foot, even though the wave shows its best with 5 to 6 foot south swells. There is a cozy hotel right in front of the wave, and you can reach the place only by car. The walking distance to town is quiet long. The water is normally very cold and sometimes, especially in summertime, it looks brown and with woody branches coming from the river mouth nearby.

Aspects on favor of surfing in Peru - Why surfing in Perú is so cool!
In our country the coast is shark free, none of our beaches has a shark problem. It has never been reported a shark attack to a surfer, something that frequently happens in Australia, South Africa, Hawaii, Florida and, in less degree, in California. The ocean's temperature is also adequate, and it varies according to the seasons along the year. In general it is necessary to use a neoprene wetsuit, but never anyone that surfed the Peruvian waves has being able to say that the cold water kept them from surfing.
