Aspects on favor of surfing in Perú - Why surfing in Perú is so cool!
In our country the coast is shark free, none of our beaches has a shark problem. It has never been reported a shark attack to a surfer, something that frequently happens in Australia, South Africa, Hawaii, Florida and, in less degree, in California. The ocean's temperature is also adequate, and it varies according to the seasons along the year. In general it is necessary to use a neoprene wetsuit, but never anyone that surfed the Peruvian waves has being able to say that the cold water kept them from surfing.
Huaraz

It is a city located in the Ancash region. This city is nailed to the cordillera blanca (white mountain range, called like this because of the snow). Possesses the principal and most elevated occidental ramification of the Andes mountain range, and it is separated from the cordillera negra (black mountain range, called like this because of its lower altitude and lack of snow) by the "callejon de Huaylas" (Huaylas alley), where the Santa river flows. The Huascaran, the most elevated peak in Perú, is solid granite mountain created during the alpine orogenesis of the tertiary era. It possesses two mountain tops, the septentrional or north one, at 6.655 m of altitude, which was crowned in 1908 by Peck, Taugwalder and Zumtaugwald, and the meridional or south one, at 6.768 m, which was conquered in 1932 by Bernhard and Borchers. The Huscaran is object of excursions and hikes, especially to the Llanganuco lagoon. At its feet is located the city of Yungay. This city was destroyed in 1970 by an earthquake, causing a massive avalanche of 15 million cubic meters of snow which arrived to the city in 3 minutes (at a speed of 300 km/hr). From 1975 is part of the Huascaran National Park.
